Jennifer Aniston Biography

Jennifer Joanna Aniston (born Jennifer Linn Anastassakis on February 11, 1969 in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, California) is an American actress best known for playing Rachel Green on the television sitcom Friends. She graduated from the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts during 1987 and was the member of the drama club. Her early works include For Dear Life and Dancing On Checker's Grave. Jennifer was also a talented painter during her stay at the Rudolf Steiner School (one of her pieces was displayed at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art).

Well connected from the beginning, her father is veteran Days of Our Lives star John Aniston; her godfather is none other than Telly Savalas, Aniston did not discover her own penchant for acting until attending the Rudolf Steiner School drama club at age 11.

Her television debut was in 1989, when she starred in the '90s short-lived series Molloy. Before long, Aniston's television resume had grown to include appearances in The Edge, a role in the ultimately unsuccessful attempt at adapting Ferris Bueller's Day Off into sitcom format, and a part in an episode of Quantum Leap. In 1991, she landed a recurring role on Herman's Head, while 1993 led her to a small part on The Ben Stiller Show. In 1994, the producers of a new NBC show called Friends originally wanted Aniston to audition for the role of Monica Geller, but she persuaded them that the role of Rachel Green was more suited to her character. She played the character until the show ended in 2004. The character of Rachel launched her big time as the sitcom actress.

Friends quickly inspired a loyal fan club for Aniston's signature hairstyle. She also starred in the romantic comedies such as She's the One (1996), Picture Perfect (1997), 'Til There Was You (1997), and The Object of My Affection(1998). About the same time, jennifer met brad pitt, whom she would later marry. They would be considered one of the most powerful couples in hollywood.

Jennifer Aniston had gained an astounding amount of notoriety since her fledgling film debut in 1993's Leprechaun, and starred in director Stephen Herek's Rock Star in 2000 after a relatively well-received supporting role in 1999's Office Space. Though Rock Star was far from a massive success, Aniston's talent for dramatic roles was finally given a proper outlet, and she went on to land the lead part in 2002's The Good Girl. In 2003, Aniston starred alongside Jim Carrey in the romantic comedy Bruce Almighty which did pretty well at the box office. Aniston has a successful film career, recently flourishing after the end of Friends.

Jennifer Aniston married actor Brad Pitt on July 29, 2000, and they separated on January 7, 2005. Aniston officially filed for divorce on March 25, 2005 citing irreconcilable differences. In a September 2005 interview with Vanity Fair Aniston revealed that Brad Pitt became "emotionally unavailable" when he began filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith and that she was very hurt when pictures later surfaced of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie frolicing together on a beach in South Africa.
